Ms. Angela Badon, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, is an orchestra director in the public education system. She has twenty years of teaching experience in the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Ms. Badon has been a middle and high school orchestra director for the Pasadena Independent School District for seventeen years. This is her tenth year as the head director of the J. Frank Dobie High School Orchestra program. In 2001, she received a Bachelor of Music Education from Louisiana State University. In 2003, Ms. Badon graduated with a Master's degree in music from the University of Arizona with a concentration in string education research and pedagogy. Ms. Badon is a proud clinician and adjudicator for the Houston area. She is the 2020 recipient of the Spec's Charitable Foundation Educator Award. She is a member of TMEA, TODA, and TMAA. Ms. Badon regularly performs on the violin for various church, community, and organizational events. On her free time, Ms. Badon enjoys spending time with her daughter who also plays the violin.
Dr. Lucy Rodriguez is a highly talented musician with over ten years of teaching, performing, and conducting experience. She is the founder and CEO of Lucy's String Studio, providing music lessons to students all over the United States. Her areas of expertise include violin, viola, piano, cello, double bass, vocals, conducting, and instrumental pedagogy. Dr. Rodriguez holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music, a Master of Arts in Instrumental Performance with a concentration in Orchestral Conducting, and a Doctoral Degree in Education in Ethical Leadership. Her research includes philosophies of gender, philosophies pertaining to women in the arts, the social construction of gender theory as it pertains to musical conducting, and gender equity.
