The Color of Harmony Foundation is committed to building a diverse arts program by fostering the creativity of young artists. Our mission is to ignite the growth of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in classical music. We are dedicated to serving young, underrepresented musicians. We believe diversity in the arts drives innovation, creates opportunities, and has the power of transforming lives.
According to the League of American Orchestras (2016), the proportion of musicians from African American, Hispanic / Latino, Asian / Pacific Islander, American Indian / Alaskan Native, and other non-white backgrounds constitutes less than 15% of the orchestra musician population (p. 3). The Color of Harmony Foundation aims to mitigate this issue by providing financial support, community resources, and promoting the growth of racial and ethnic diversity in the arts.
The Color of Harmony Foundation offers financial assistance to students in the greater Houston area. Scholarships and funding for lessons, summer programs, and instruments are available for students who meet eligibility requirements.
