The Color of Harmony Foundation is committed to building a diverse arts program by fostering the creativity of young artists. Our mission is to ignite the growth of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in classical music. We are dedicated to serving young, underrepresented musicians. We believe diversity in the arts drives innovation, creates opportunities, and has the power of transforming lives.
According to the League of American Orchestras (2016), the proportion of musicians from African American, Hispanic / Latino, Asian / Pacific Islander, American Indian / Alaskan Native, and other non-white backgrounds constitutes less than 15% of the orchestra musician population (p. 3). The Color of Harmony Foundation aims to mitigate this issue by providing financial support, community resources, and promoting the growth of racial and ethnic diversity in the arts.
The Color of Harmony Foundation provides financial assistance to young musicians in the Greater Houston area, helping them advance their artistic journey. We offer scholarships for private lessons, summer music programs, and fine instruments to students who meet eligibility requirements. Our goal is to remove financial barriers so that talented, underrepresented musicians can pursue their passion for music. To learn more, visit our Scholarships page or click Apply Now to get started.
